Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry has been conducting the cutting-edge research in dental and oral science, and has run as a forefront institution that integrated conventional dental medicine with recent discoveries in life science. In addition, as a world-leading institution in the dental and oral medicine, we continue to build upon years of collaboration with Graduate School of Medicine, Pharmaceutical Science, and Engineering, as well as with other life science research institutions here and abroad.
We have entitled the implementation of the state-of the-art, biology-based, dental medicine to the conventional dentistry as ‘Frontier Bio-Dentistry’ and have built the world-class research entity. Our next goal is not only to merely treat various dental related diseases but also to strategically enhance the treatment options that would make peoples’ livings more enriched. To this aim, we are pursuing a new academic discipline entitled ‘Innovative Dentistry’ that would include both—the latest biology to find a treatment for intractable oral diseases—and —health science to widely impact the daily living—. The innovative dentistry, the next-generation integrative dentistry, goes beyond the boundaries of academic discipline through international collaborations of research and education based between the academia and industry, ultimately promoting the direct delivery of research outcomes to the society.
Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry was founded in 1960 (Showa year of 35), with our vision to be the preeminent innovator in dental and oral science. Under the Japanese government’s policies of focusing on the graduate-level education, we were registered as one of the top schools to offer more international, integrative, ‘cross-boundary’ academic programs in 2000. We aim to bring our academic institution to the next-level in response to the ever-increasing demands from the society and increased multidiscipline involvement and advancement achieved in the dentistry.Osaka University Graduate School of Dentistry is one of the world research core centers in the field of dental and oral medicine, aspiring to innovate prevention, diagnostics, and therapeutic, for examples, in tissue regenerative medicine and preventative care that requires the latest biotechnologies.
