Association of Dental Implantology; The ADI is a membership association and registered charity dedicated to providing the profession with continuing implant education.

The Association of Dental Implantology is a charity whose mission is to advance education in the field of dental implantology for the benefit of the public.

History:

To encourage the introduction of osseointegration into the UK, in 1986 a small forward thinking group of dentists established the London Study Club as a means of providing general dental practitioners with access to state of the art advances in implantology not readily available in the UK.

In August 1987 the first ADI Newsletter published the Association’s key aims:

To advance oral implantology and its related sciences throughout the UK by way of symposia, meetings, lectures and publications To unite and coordinate implant groups with the UK and to facilitate communications internationally To safeguard standards and interests of the dental profession with regard to clinical procedures and scientific research Simultaneously, the ADI published a leaflet providing the UK public and the dental profession for the first time with detailed generic information on osseointegration techniques. Within months, Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced Osseointegration courses were organised, funds were generated, an extraordinary general meeting called and the Association of Dental Implantology was launched.

The ADI was incorporated and charitable status as an educational body granted in May 1988. The 1988 inaugural International Symposium set the benchmark for quality education that has long since become the hallmark of all ADI programmes to the present day.
