The South Carolina Dental Association represents member dentists in order to promote and provide optimal oral health care to all citizens of the state of South Carolina by serving as an advocate to advance the profession of dentistry.The SCDA has over 2,000 member dentists in South Carolina. We are the leader in the promotion of oral health care excellence and the advancement of the profession of dentistry in South Carolina.

Established in 1869, the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA) represents and serves more than 2,000 Member Dentists in South Carolina. We are a non-profit association that provides services such as lobbying, legal counsel, continuing education opportunities, publications, insurance services, and practitioner networking and legislative events for members and community alike.

 

1.- Member Value and Practice Viability - Provide benefits and services to support practice and career success.

2.- Advocacy and the Voice of Dentistry - Advocate to advance the profession.

Legislative Relations - Maintain relationships with Legislators through leadership contacts, Districts and grassroots member efforts; identify dentists who may serve on elected and appointed boards.

PAC - Maintain the strength of the political action committee.

Strong Lobbying Team - Remain vigilant with the lobbyist to monitor and influence dentistry issues.

Board of Dentistry - Work with the Board to advance mutual interests.

Collaboration - Collaborate with allied organizations to improve understanding of the issues, opportunities and challenges.

 

3.- Promoting Optimal Oral Health - Support advancement of oral health and accessibility.

Program Support - Support community outreach programs.

Public Literacy - Promote literacy of oral health care.

Safety Net - Preserve and enhance the dental safety net.

Dentist Involvement - Increase dentists’ participation in community programs.

Outreach - Collaborate with like-minded organizations supporting oral health.

 

4.- Association Excellence - Maintain a nationally respected state dental component.

Staffing - Ensure sufficient professional staffing levels.

Financial Stewardship - Serve as excellent stewards of the association’s financial resources.

Leadership Development - Encourage future leaders through mentoring and training to support an effective committee structure and District operations.

Technology Use - Invest in the technology needed to support association functions and personalized communication.

Governance - Ensure the governance structure is responsive to evolving member and environmental needs.
